Airfield Operations Officer
The Work
Airfield Operations Officers are responsible for ensuring that runways, taxiways and apron stands are safe. The work involves:
- Assisting with aircraft stand allocation.
- Testing of apron and runway conditions.
- Clearing debris, snow and de-icing.
- Using communications and IT equipment.
- Airside driving.
- Helping aircraft to park (marshalling).
Skills and Personal Attributes
To be an Airfield Operations Officer, you should:
- Be a team player with good communication skills
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have a commitment to customer care
- Be reliable and flexible
- Have good IT skills
- Have a clean/full driving licence
- Have some experience of working in a safety critical environment.
Entry Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- Employers prefer applicants with a good standard of literacy and numeracy, possibly with the equivalent of a GCSE grade C or above
- Applicants must also have basic IT skills
- Be physically fit with normal colour vision
- Have a 5 year checkable work history
- You will need to pass a full and strict criminal record check
Training
This is normally undertaken on-the-job.
Directions Finningley offer Customer Service, Airline and Airport Operations and related courses at OCN Levels 1, 2 and 3 (BTEC Certificate) at Robin Hood Airport.
